While I was out this morning, I passed a few people who were out jogging. One lady in particular was a little on the chunky side, and all I could think was, “Yes, you really need to be doing that.” A bit rude, yes. Then again, I’m not really one to speak, either. I could do with a bit of exercising myself, and though I know that, I have a hard time actually doing it. I can blame it on my being a writer, sitting at the computer a lot and all, not just writing, but spending time on social media so my name gets out there. But a lot of it just being lazy. Sometimes I’ll decide to start exercising, and do it for a couple days, but my follow-through always tends to fall short.
But that also got me thinking about how it’s important to not only exercise the body, but the mind and spirit as well, and to keep them balanced. As General Patton said, “An active mind cannot exist in an inactive body.” And we all know how harmful stress can be to us, both physically and mentally, and how better we feel when we are relaxed and at peace. We need to keep all three – body, mind, and spirit – balanced to really be healthy.

Jeanne, I totally agree. I used to do athletics in college, I found that all around I was functioning at a higher level both physically and mentally when both were being catered too. I’m a practitioner of meditation I think it works wonders and everyone can benefit from it. Even if only 10 minutes a day

Thanks. Glad you agree. I’ve heard so much about the good meditation can do for someone. It’s nice to have a practitioner’s feedback 🙂

Very true — for everyone. It’s all about health at every size. People of all weights need to remember this, since as you said, it’s important for overall health in body, mind and spirit.

You’re so right. I’m with you – I need more exercise! I think what we need is laptops powered by treadmills. 😉 hehe
Thanks very much for posting for SoCS, Jeanne! 🙂

I exercise my mind by writing stories, and then every day I go out on my bike for half an hour and also walk for half an hour. After working in a hospital for 20 years I’ve learned we’ve got to keep it all moving, lol.
