Hustle – Tuesday Use It In A Sentence #tuesdayuseitinasentence

Working like crazy in the kitchen, Edna decided she much preferred dealing with the hustle and bustle of the crowds of shoppers on Black Friday than she did trying to hustle to prepare Thanksgiving dinner.

Thinking Aloud on A Sunday.

Fur.

Earlier this week, I saw a feature on a BBC programe. It appears that many items being sold as ‘fake fur’ are nothing of the sort. They are real fur. Unimaginably, it appears that raising animals in awful conditions, then killing them for their fur, is cheaper than producing the fibres needed to simulate it as fake fur. The TV show had distressing images of rabbits and Raccoon Dogs (I had never heard of Raccoon Dogs) being kept in abysmal conditions. Crammed into wire cages, and stacked on top of each other. As well as coming from the Far East, this animal fur is also widely produced in Poland, a member of the EU.

Is it used to provide warmth at least? Perhaps to help people who live in very cold places survive harsh winters. Of course not. It merely provides decoration. Bobbles for beanie hats, facings on sweaters…

The Role To Play – Stream of Consciousness Saturday #SoCS

stream-of-consciousness-saturday-2018-19

A great man once said

That all the world

Is a stage

And the men and women

Are merely players.

As I make my way

Through this great play

We call Life

I have yet to find

The role that

I am meant to play.

But I will continue

To roll along

Like a stone

Until I find

My starring role.

Bill – Tuesday Use It In A Sentence #tuesdayuseitinasentence

As she listened to the veterinarian’s diagnosis, her heart broke, but she decided she didn’t care how much the bill would end up being. She would do everything she could to make Bill the cat better. He was her baby, after all, and all she had left in the world.

Any Means Necessary – Stream of Consciousness Saturday #SoCS

stream-of-consciousness-saturday-2018-19

Ian heaved a sigh. “There no help for it,” he said as he slumped in his desk chair and frowned at the papers spread out in front of him.

“What do you mean?” asked his roommate, Charlie, as he entered the living room and took a seat on the couch. He picked up the TV remote and switched it on.

“What do you think I mean, Charlie,” replied Ian, as he turned in his chair to face his friend. “The ring, of course.”

“The ring?” said Charlie, who was watching the show on TV, with his attention only half on Ian.

“Yes, the ring.”

“What ring? Oh! That ring! So, what about it again?”

“I want to get it for Liz and surprise her with it on her birthday. But it’s in a little over two weeks and I’ve been trying to figure out how I can afford to get it in such a short amount of time.”

“Are you even sure she’ll accept it?”

“Of course I am! I wouldn’t be racking my brain like this for such an expensive ring if I wasn’t sure she’d say ‘yes’, Charlie!”

“Okay! Okay! So how’re going to get it, then?”

“By any means necessary.”

“And that means?”

Ian picked up a pen and a newspaper from his desk. “Searching the want ads,” he replied sadly.

A desperate Ian got to work going through and circling Help Wanted posts.
