Well, according to WordPress, today is my 3-year anniversary here. Wow! Has it been 3 years already? Where does the time go?
I know I’ve not been posting as much lately as I had been, but life has just gotten a bit busy, what with my day jobs and doing a little side writing on Fiverr. I’ve not even had a real chance to work on my WIP novel much, either. Oh, I’ve had ideas, and my characters have been whispering in my ears, but I haven’t had time to do anything about it. I hope to change that soon.
Anyway, I just want to thank all of you who have followed me over the last 3 years, and thank you to all the new folks who have followed me recently. I’m almost at 500 followers, and I thank you all for that. I hope you all have enjoyed what I have shared here over the last 3 years and I hope to be able to share more things for you to enjoy – and share them more frequently – if things ever manage to calm down a little (and hopefully it will).
Again, thank you to everyone for a great 3 years here on WordPress.
Today is my one-year anniversary on WordPress! Woohoo!
Where has the time gone? It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long. But then, I’ve been saying that a lot lately. Time has just been flying by. Here it is the middle of June already and it still feels like the year only just started. And in 3 months it’ll be my one-year anniversary with my boyfriend. Wow.
And with the year half over, I’m not very much closer to having my WIP novel done by the end of the year like I’d hoped. I guess I should try to get back to working on it (which I’ve been saying for the past week but keep getting distracted from doing.) To be fair, I did manage to get a few hundred words done on it last week, but then I managed to get sidetracked. Time to see if I can get back on track.
I have been nominated for a Liebster Award! Wow! How unexpected this is! Thank you so much to http://mommyx4boys.wordpress.com for the nomination. I truly appreciate it. This is my first award here on WordPress, since I’m relatively new here.
Okay, now, let’s see…
The rules for this award are…
1. Thank the person who nominated you for the award
2. Display the banner/sticker/logo on your blog
3. Answer the questions the award giver asked
4. List 11 facts about yourself
5. List your nominees
The questions I’ve been given:
1. If you had one wish what would it be?
– Only one wish? Well, I’d love to be a relatively famous author, with a contract with a big publisher 😀
2. If you could change one law, what would it be and why?
-probably repeal “ObamaCare”. I understand the motivations, but I’ve always thought it was silly to force people to pay for insurance when a lot of people still can’t afford it thanks to the bad economy, and it hasn’t really worked out like “they” had hoped it would.
3. What is your favorite movie?
-Oh, I have a lot of movies I love. Casablanca, The Princess Bride, My Cousin Vinny, Monty Python and Holy Grail, Lord of the Rings, Ghostbusters, etc.
4. What is your dream job?
-full-time author 🙂 or something where I can work with animals, probably. cat behaviorist might be interesting.
5. If you could travel to a different time period, when would it be?
-I’ve always been fascinated with Ancient Egypt. If reincarnation is real, maybe I was an Egyptian in a past life. It might explain my love for cats 😀 I’ve also been interested in the Middle Ages.
6. Do you love zombies, if not why?
-they’re not my favorite, but I don’t hate them. I like some zombie movies, like Resident Evil and World War Z, but for the most part they just don’t catch my interest. I’m more into vampires and ghosts.
7. Who is your favorite actor/actress
-I love Johnny Depp 😀 I’ve also recently become a fan Benedict Cumberbatch and David Tennant.
8. Do you now or have you ever had a nickname?
-a couple of women I used to work with used to call me “Boo” and “Jeannetta”.
9. What would you want your last meal to be?
-one last trip to a Chinese buffet 😀
10. What is your biggest fear?
-being broke
11. Do you think im awesome?
Yes 😀
11 Facts about me:
1-I consider myself an introvert.
2-I’m named after Joan of Arc.
3-I think of myself as a bit of a tomboy.
4-I could easily become a crazy cat lady if conditions were right.
5-I believe in soul mates, and am still looking for mine.
6-I don’t care much for romantic movies.
7-I have an eclectic taste in music.
8-I’ve been writing stories since high school.
9-I have green eyes.
10-I’m 5 ft. tall
11-My favorite color is purple.
Ok. Now my nominations. Since I’m new here, I might not know many people to chose. If I chose someone and they’ve recently done this, forgive me.
Very rarely do I have nightmares. For the most part, I tend to have weird, involved dreams (at least those that I remember are). A while back I had a long, involved dream that was sort of like a zombie survival movie, only everyone was trying to getting away from killer rabbits instead of zombies. (Afterwards, I had an urge to watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail again, but I don’t think that’s what the dream was trying to tell me.) And the other night, I had a dream that seemed to be based on Chronicles of Narnia (I was supposedly Lucy, I think), but it was more like Harry Potter in that I and another person were fighting a bad guy by using magic, only I couldn’t find the piece of paper my incantations were written on.
Many times I find myself wishing I could remember more details of these sorts of dreams, as I always think they’d make good material for stories to write. I have heard before about keeping a dream journal, and sometimes I’ll think about doing it, but I never do. Maybe one day I will.
What about you? Do you have dreams that you think would be good story material? Have you ever turned dreams into stories?
So, today’s Stream of Consciouness prompt is “getting away”. What’s the first thing that comes to my mind? The Offspring’s song, Gotta Get Away 🙂
Then I think of how I got away from it all for a week when I went on a trip to Ireland about 10 years ago. I had such a good time there, and wish I could go back again. It was so beautiful there, and I wished I could have stayed longer than the week that was scheduled for the trip. I’d went as part of a study abroad trip with a group of teachers and students at the community college. Pretty bold of me, since I didn’t know anyone there, and was only familiar with the lead teacher in the group because my mother had taken a couple of her classes a couple years earlier (and had even done a similar trip then, also). The trip was also my first time on a plane, so I was really feeling bold then. I had decided to go to celebrate having paid off my student loan (not the community college, I wasn’t a student there, per se; I’d only been taking a class or two there for fun).
It was such a fun trip, visiting different places in southern Ireland. Dublin, the Ring of Kerry, Dingle, Kilkenny Castle, the Rock of Cashel, the Titanic museum – all of it was so much fun. And I had the best fish and chips at a riverside restaurant there. Oh, I really wish I could go back some day and see more!

I do enjoy traveling, I just can’t really afford to do as much as I would like. If I ever win the lottery or hit it big publishing, I would go back to Ireland. I’d also like to visit England and Scotland. And I want to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, too 🙂 Some other dream places I’d like to see would be Japan, the Pyramids, and the Winter Palace and Hermitage Museum.
Where would you like to go to get away from it all, if you could?
“If it hadn’t curved, it would have gone straight.”
(I’m laughing at myself with this one. This is something I said once while playing Wii bowling with my brother and mother, and they haven’t let me forget it yet.)
Lady Macbeth’s famous line seems somewhat fitting for today. But whereas she was speaking of blood, my experience is bloodless. See, I was drinking some strawberry-flavored water at work today (I had put one of those powdered flavor things into a bottle of water), and only had a couple of sips left when, wouldn’t you know it, a few drops dribbled onto my shirt. And I just happened to be wearing white today, too. Doesn’t it always seem to work out that way, that when you spill food or drink on yourself, it seems to happen mostly when you’re wearing white? Well, as soon as I got home, I changed clothes and ran a small load of laundry in the washer so I could get my shirt cleaned ASAP. Thank God for Spray & Wash. I made sure to use some of it and, unlike Lady Macbeth, the stain is out 🙂
