He hadn’t been home in a long time and he wasn’t sure what to expect, but as soon as he walked in and saw the Christmas decorations and smelled cookies baking in the kitchen, he felt like a kid again. He called out, and when his mother answered happily from the kitchen, he grinned and ran to go help her with the cookies like he used to.
