In And Out – Stream of Consciousness Saturday #SoCS

“Is it in?” she asked.

“I don’t know,” he replied. “I can’t tell.”

“Why not?”

“There’s too much junk in the way. Don’t you ever straighten up around here? Or think about getting rid of some of it?”

She sighed. “Stop complaining. The cat managed to get back there, after all. Just pull some of the stuff out of the way and see if you can find the cord, and let me know if it’s still plugged in or not. I can’t watch the game if it’s not plugged in.”

He sighed.”Fine. Fine. Next time, try to make sure you keep the door shut to keep the cat out of here so this doesn’t happen again.”

“Whatever. I’m going out to get a bite to eat before the game. Want me to get you anything from In ‘n Out?”

“Sure. Thanks.”He peered out from behind the entertainment center. “Oh, and can you take the dog with you? He hasn’t been out yet this afternoon.”

As she left him to sort through the electrical cords, she let the cat back inside the house while she took the dog out with her to go on a burger run.

This silly short story is part of the Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt, “in/out”:
