Becca wandered through the old house one last time. Childhood memories played out before her mind’s eye like snippets from a movie, and the phantom laughter of children playing seemed to echo in her ears from the rooms as she visited them for the final time. She hated to have to sell her childhood home, but with her parents now gone, she couldn’t afford to keep it herself. When she was done, she closed the front door on her past and handed the key to the realtor.
