Book promotion opinions

Ok. So I’m considering running a promotion on Amazon for my book Chronicles of Riss I just haven’t decided yet which way to go with it. Do I want to make it a $0.99 sale, or offer it free? And for how long? I’ve never done one of these before, so I’m really not sure how to go. What do you all think? And any tips?

  1. If you offer it for free, I would definitely put a time limit on it. You do not want to give it away for too long 🙂 I am a reader/reviewer, not a writer (yet!) and I buy many books that are 0.99, but I also have no problem paying 5.99+ for a book by an author I do not know if I like the synopsis, and the cover catches my eye. Best of luck to you!

  2. I think the free give away doesn’t work as well as it used to. People download dozens of freebees and never get around to reading them, much less reviewing them. I think you need some kind of hook to make it work now.

  3. If you are not already on it I could recommend you join the indie author group on Facebook. Lots f published authors discussing anything and everything to do with books but no advertising. This is a frequent question and I know they have some files on this kind of question too. I think there answer was yes to free, but with some extras…

  4. I’ve done the Kindle Countdown sale. It’s easy and I’ve done well with it.
